Soon the last soldiers sent to Iraq will be coming home at long last. Our hearts go out to the men and women of our armed forces, and we thank them for the sacrifices they have made to ensure Americans' freedoms. Now that they have arrived home it is important that we show our appreciation by working hard to ensure each soldier is able to make a seamless transition back into American society.

The Charleston Youth Task force was founded in 2002 during a period when youth violence and a high number of youth deaths were occurring in the City of Charleston. As Councilman, Wendell G. Gilliard organized a forum at Burke High School to get input from the community on how to best address the critical issue.
